Web Hosting :: Data Centre Tour
All of our servers and equipment are housed within the BlueSquare Data Centres. They have four, state of the art data centres located accross the UK. BlueSquare Data Centres have been built from the ground up with only two aims in mind: over engineering and robustness. We at NameHOG believe in giving the best to our customers and will only place your website on servers within these datacentres.
We know how important it is for your website to be online and accessible 24 hours a day which is why we chose this group of data centres. For colocation clients, the Network Operations Centre (NOC) is open 24x7x365 so you are able to access the data centre at any time to suit you.

BlueSquare Data Centres Overview:
BlueSquare House (Maidenhead)
Opened in August 2006 at 10,000 sq ft in size, it provides up to 16 Amps per cabinet location with N+1 redundancy at all times. Due to the success of BlueSquare, BlueSquare House reached full capacity within 9 months of opening and currently operates a waiting list for new orders. Technical Specifiction Sheet: BlueSquare 1.
BlueSquare 2 (Maidenhead)
Brought on-stream as the expansion site for the first BlueSquare building, BlueSquare 2 benefits from the same carriers and fibre providers as BlueSquare 1, with the additional benefits of true diversity from the first building. BlueSquare 2 went live in May 2007, at a total size of 7,100 sq ft. Technical Specifiction Sheet: BlueSquare 2 & 3.
BlueSquare 3 (Maidenhead)
This unit provides an additional two floors of Data Centre space adjacent to BlueSquare 2. It replicates our now proven methods of Data Centre construction and is linked using our redundant fibre ring , as well as providing connectivity to other onsite carriers and their incoming ducts. Technical Specifiction Sheet: BlueSquare 2 & 3.
BlueSquare 4 (Milton Keynes)
The new BlueSquare Milton Keynes Datacentre is one of the very few tier 4 data centres in the UK. Originally purpose built to the highest standards for a leading German bank, BlueSquare took over the site in March 2008, completely refitting all of the interior and exterior systems to a very high N+N redundancy level.
The high specification tier IV BlueSquare:MK facility benefits from dual diverse substations, as well as multiple diverse dark fibre providers offering an excellent choice in connectivity. BlueSquare:MK consists of up to 25,000 sq. ft. of space with the data centre sitting on a substantial site of two acres enabling easy growth. The datacentre includes build rooms, offices, meeting rooms, rest areas and ample secure dedicated car parking.
Environmental efficiency is very high on the agenda at BlueSquare:MK; it uses the latest technology air conditioning systems from Airedale, which feature a whole raft of highly efficient cooling procedures. This ensures that power usage is kept to the efficient minimum at all times, reducing the carbon impact compared to a traditional Data Centre. When added to our substantial Carbon Offsetting programme, this makes BlueSquare:MK a substantially more environmentally sustainable choice. Technical Specifiction Sheet: BlueSquare 4 (Milton Keynes)
Over the last 10 years we have gone from Cobalt RaQ3 32Mb Servers to the most powerful state of the art servers on the market. Our current servers are all the same, all servers are less than 1 year old, and get changed out for newer ones when they get to around 12 months. We do however, have a few old Colalt RaQ's knocking around the office with Centos installed used for testing purposes only. The server outlined below, we can typically load with 800 to 900 websites without it affecting the performance.
The current server specifications are as follows:
1U Supermicro 6015C-M3B Rackmount Server
Dual Intel® 64-bit Xeon® Dual Quad-Core W3520, 2.8Ghz, 2660Mhz FSB 12Mb Cache
12288Mb DDR 667Mhz FBD Memory
3 x 500Gb 15,000rpm SATA II Hard Drives in 3Ware RAID 3 (Hot Swapable)
1 x 500Gb 15,000rpm SATA II Hard Drive for Incremental Backups (Hot Swapable)
520W High-efficiency Power Supply (With redundant hot spre on sperate power feed)
Dimensions: 43mm x 437mm x 503mm (H x W x D) weighing in at 14.1 Kg.
24/7 Permanent KVM Over IP Access & APC Remote Reboot Switch Ports
Operating System: CentOs Enterprise Linux 5.0 with Apache 2 and CPanel 11
For each cluster of three web servers we have one database server, the same spec as above. These are grouped in blocks of 4 servers connected to a 24 Port Cisco 2960-24TT-L Catalyst Switch with a Dual 1000Mbit Gigabit Uplink to the main Cisco ASA 5510 Firewall that is capable of handling 130,000 concurrent sessions at once, yes thats a huge amount! It also takes upto a 300 Mbps throughput.
The image below is what the web servers actually look like, we get asked this quite often. People say do they look like the computer at home, well no, not really!
We have a good number of these servers currently running in many of our own secure cabinets at the BlueSquare datacentre in Maidenhead. If you are interested in leasing any servers from us, there is no minimum order of servers, anything from one upwards, please Contact Us.
